Triple Crown Blackberry is an outstanding, sun-loving deciduous fruiting vine prized for its spectacular, continuous profusion of exceptionally large, glossy black berries that reveal an incredibly sweet, rich flavor with a perfect balance of tartness. This incredibly tough, cold-hardy, and completely thornless selection is known for its vigorous, semi-erect habit and outstanding productivity, thriving where other varieties struggle. Its intensely flavored, premium-quality fruit is considered among the finest for eating fresh, baking, or making preserves, making it a spectacular, low-maintenance thriller for sunny landscape borders, edible permaculture gardens, and sturdy trellises. With its bold, lush texture and reliable performance, Triple Crown offers an extraordinary display of lush greenery and rewarding, exceptionally heavy harvests with exceptionally straightforward care.

Growing Triple Crown Blackberry

Light: Full sun; thrives in intense, direct sunlight (at least 6 to 8 hours per day) which is absolutely required to produce the most abundant, sweetest fruit and maintain vigorous growth.

Soil: Rich, well-drained soil; highly adaptable to a variety of soils as long as drainage is excellent. It prefers a slightly acidic, loamy soil amended with compost and is highly susceptible to root rot in heavy, waterlogged clay.

Water: Moderate; water regularly to keep the soil consistently and evenly moist, especially during the active growing and fruiting season. It is not highly drought-tolerant and requires supplemental watering during hot, dry spells to support its massive fruit development.

Maintenance: Exceptionally low maintenance. Provide a sturdy trellis or wire support structure to hold the weight of its vigorous, heavy-yielding canes. Prune out the old, fruited floricanes at ground level in late winter or early spring to maintain its shape, improve airflow, and encourage vigorous new fruiting wood. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring to support its lush foliage and prolific fruit production.

Wildlife: The sweet fruit is highly attractive to birds and other wildlife; the thornless foliage is naturally deer-resistant.

Hardiness: Perennial in USDA zones 5–9; exceptionally cold-hardy and reliable across a wide range of climates provided it has excellent winter drainage.
