Hydrangea quercifolia’ Brenhill.’

‘Brenhill,’ stands out as it’s smaller than other oakleaf hydrangeas but gifts us with impressively large flowers. The pure white blooms are held proudly above the foliage, making it a fantastic choice for cozy gardens. These flowers can thrive in different soils since they aren’t affected by soil pH.

Oakleaf hydrangeas love to settle down in organically rich, well-draining soil with medium moisture and can bask in both full sun and shade. They do best in moist soil and appreciate a layer of summer mulch to help keep that moisture around. Pruning is rather easy, generally just after flowering, though you can snip any winter-damaged stems in early spring. If you live in colder climates like USDA Zone 5, it’s a great idea to offer them some winter protection, such as mulching or wrapping in burlap, as those chilly winters can sometimes lead to flower bud loss or cold damage.
