Achillea millefolium ‘New Vintage Violet’

Achillea millefolium New Vintage Violet is a lovely spreading perennial that delights us with stunning clusters of violet-magenta flowers featuring creamy centers, blooming from late spring all the way to late summer on upright, branching stems that grow above mounds of evergreen fern-like foliage. Impressively re-flowers all season long, especially with deadheading. Perfect for borders and containers, and it shines as a cut flower in bouquets or dried arrangements.

Thrives in full sun, but can adapt to quite a bit of shade in Texas. Best grown in lean, dry to medium, well-drained sandy loams. Plants do well in average garden soils and tolerate poor soils as long as drainage is good. Plants also tolerate hot, humid summers and drought. Yarrow’s flowers stems often are floppy when planted in soils that are too moist and rich, especially in hot climates. Deadhead regularly to keep the plant looking tidy and encourage new blooms. Plants may be cut back to basal foliage after bloom. Plants spread aggressively by rhizomes and self-seeding, if left unchecked. Don’t be afraid to divide and remove clumps as needed. Deer and rabbit resistant.
