Wild Mustang – (Z. Benson, R. 1965). Seedling W 10-10. TB, 30″ (76 cm). Midseason bloom. Grape and red blend. Standards are conical, held tight, smooth grape or plum color. Falls are 3″ wide, semiflaring, round, ruffled, light blue-violet color, with border same color as standards, fading into a dark brown haft that adds color to the flower. Substance is extra heavy, branching ample. Fertile both ways, and has produced notable seedlings when crossed with ‘Martel’ and ‘Wild Peacock’. Parentage: (‘Mixed Emotions’ x ‘Wayward Wind’) X ‘Wayward Wind’. Z. Benson 1966. Awards: High Commendation 1965; Honorable Mention 1967.
