Whitetinge Sedge is a perennial sedge that grows in dense clumps or loose colonies. It’s green leaves are slender and grass-like. In late spring, it will produce small flowers which range in color from tan to reddish brown. Will slowly spread by rhizomes and will self-seed in optimum growing conditions.
This sedge prefers medium moisture soils and part to full shade. That being said, it is more tolerant of dry conditions than other sedge species and handles clay soil well, making it a good choice as a groundcover for Texas landscapes.
