A California Native perennial herb that reaches up to two feet tall.  It is found in the Bay area along the coast, in swamps, and boggy places.  This plant does not sting.  Purple flowers bloom spring through fall.  

Plant with: Willow (Salix sp.), Cottonwood (Populus sp.), Sycamore (Plataunus racemosa), Sedge (Carex sp.), Rush (Juncus sp.), Monkeyflower (Mimulus cardinalis and guttatus), and Stream Orchid (Epipactis gigantea)
