Antennaria parlinii, also known as Parlin’s Pussytoes or Ladies Tobacco, is perennial plant in the sunflower family of Asteraceae. It is a dioecious plant meaning that male and female flowers occur on separate individual pants. It is widely distributed across the eastern and central United States with a native range that extends north all the way to Maine and south all the way down to central Texas. It is a herbaceous perennial plant that works great as a non-aggressive ground cover or edging plant that will spread by stolons. It prefers drier full sun to part shade locations and requires very little care once established. Make sure to provide adequate drainage and at least 4-6 hours of sunlight a day to experience the full potential of this small but attractive native plant!
