Los Coyotes (Tom Burseen, 1992) is a tall bearded iris reaching 35″ (89 cm) and blooming early to midseason. This variety features brilliant, pure golden yellow standards—brighter than RHS 21A—and falls with a golden yellow ground dramatically streaked and veined in vivid red (near 46B), finished with a fine yellow edge. The ruffled blooms are accented by gold beards and offer a spicy fragrance. Los Coyotes is a result of careful hybridizing, with parentage from Théâtre, Dazzling Gold, Prosperity, and Sun Toasted. Recognized for its unique coloration and garden performance, it received an Honorable Mention in 1997.
