She emphasized its cultural importance and instructed that it always be grown. The beans are traditionally used by the Tuscarora people to make bean bread, a staple dish of boiled corn flour and beans. The plants are sturdy, low-maintenance bushes producing heavy yields of large, plump, oblong dry beans. A must-grow variety, also excellent as a kidney bean substitute.Our dear friend Richard Beaudette shared these with us.
