If fairies designed a carnivorous plant, it would be the Sundew. With their glistening droplets that look like morning dew (but are actually bug glue!), these dazzling plants lure in unsuspecting insects like a five-star sticky buffet. With over 190 species, Sundews come in all shapes from cute little rounds to elegant tentacled stars each leaf lined with sparkly red hairs that act like living flypaper. When an insect lands for a taste, the leaf curls over, hugs it tight, and digests it. (Bon apptit!) To bring out those gorgeous red or pink hues, give your Sundew plenty of sunshine they love basking in the light almost as much as they love catching bugs. Keep things warm and cozy, between 18C and 24C, and dont be alarmed if your Sundew takes a nap in winter. A little slowdown and some browning leaves? Totally normal its just recharging for its next insect feast.
