Acquired by Joseph Borries about 1970, it so impressed his family that they have grown this heirloom variety faithfully in Illinois since that time. The oblong fruit averages 15-20 pounds, ripens to green with dark-green stripes, and produces yellow, sweet flesh. Planting tip: Soaking in warm water for up to 12H & scarification is recommended for improved germination. Sow indoors 2 weeks before transplanting outside.
