Heirloom. Bred in 1898. Highly scented maroon flower tolerant to heat. 5 to 6’ tall vines. Especially attractive to pollinators.

Planting tip: Seed stratification is required for 2 weeks. Soaking in warm water for up to 8H is recommended for improved germination. Sow indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost date or||direct sow outdoors in early spring as soon as the soil is workable.
Harvesting tip: Cut stems when flowers are fully open using sharp scissors. Harvest in the morning. The more you cut, the more the plant produces.
Storage tip: Place in cool water immediately. Change water daily. Do not refrigerate. Vase life is 3-5 days.
