Japanese Painted Fern, Japanese Black Lady Fern: Clumping fern with triangular, arching fronds 12-18″ tall and wide. In the spring, the mounding fronds start as a deep burgundy-purple color, then age to silvery-green with deep purple stems and dusty purple centers. Part shade to full shade. Moist, well-drained soil. Deer and rabbit resistant. Great in containers. Good for cut foliage.
